Chinese smartphone maker Vivo is gearing up to unveil its latest flagship next week – the highly anticipated X100 Ultra. And if the leaks are to be believed, this device could represent a seismic shift in mobile photography prowess.
The star of the show is the X100 Ultra’s camera setup, which Vivo’s own VP described as a “professional camera” that “just happens to be able to make calls.” At the heart lies a massive 1-inch 50MP Sony sensor for the primary camera, paired with a 50MP wide-angle lens enhanced by Vivo’s latest AI algorithms.

But the real party piece is the 200MP periscope zoom camera utilizing Samsung’s high-end ISOCELL HP9 sensor, co-developed with Vivo. It promises a 12% boost in light sensitivity compared to previous HP sensors, thanks to Vivo’s optimizations. This potent hardware is aided by fluorite glass lenses – a low-dispersion material typically reserved for professional-grade cameras.
The telephoto capabilities are rounded out by a combination of optical and AI-powered software stabilization to counteract shaking. Selfie fans aren’t left out either, with a 50MP JN1 sensor from Samsung that can capture 4K/60fps video.
Rumored core specs include Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and storage options up to a massive 1TB. Pricing could start around $930 for the base model, topping out close to $1,200 for higher configurations.
