Users will be able to send audio notes via status updates thanks to a new feature called “voice status updates” that is reportedly being rolled out for Android beta by the Meta-owned messaging service WhatsApp.
According to WABetaInfo, beta testers can now send audio notes as status updates by accessing the new feature from the text status area.
The platform also gives users more control over their voice recordings by allowing them to delete a clip before sharing it.
The maximum recording time for a voice note is 30 seconds, and users must update their WhatsApp version to listen to voice notes posted via status.
Voice notes posted as status updates will be end-to-end encrypted, ensuring that only the people users indicate in their privacy settings can hear them.
Voice notes sent via status, like photos and videos, will be cleared after 24 hours. Furthermore, after submitting voice notes as status updates, users can delete them for everyone.
In the upcoming weeks, the new feature will be made available to more users, according to the report.
