Following the recent controversy over forced PlayStation Network (PSN) account linkage for Helldivers 2 on PC, Sucker Punch Productions has addressed concerns regarding its forthcoming release of Ghost of Tsushima for the platform.
The Helldivers 2 situation, in which gamers review-bombed and mass-refunded the game on Steam when Sony required PSN account linkage, generated concerns about whether Ghost of Tsushima might encounter similar issues.
Sucker Punch explained the PSN account requirements for Ghost of Tsushima on PC in response to a user who canceled their pre-order out of concern that they would be compelled to link their Steam account to PSN.
According to the developer, Ghost of Tsushima’s single-player story mode on PC does not require an active PSN account. However, those who want to play the game’s multiplayer “Legends” mode will need to have an active PSN account.
This announcement comes as a relief to many PC gamers, particularly those who live in areas where obtaining a PSN account is difficult, as the platform is inaccessible in about 130 countries globally.
