Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Slim Yet Durable? Here’s What to Expect

Follow Us On

Samsung is gearing up to fully unveil the Galaxy S25 Edge next month, but ahead of its launch, fresh rumors have shed light on its design, weight, pricing, and display specifications. One standout detail is its rumored 5.84mm slim profile, raising concerns about its durability.

However, Samsung appears confident that its sleek form factor won’t compromise toughness. In an interview with TechRadar, Annika Bizon, Samsung’s Mobile Experience (MX) VP of Product and Marketing in the UK, reassured consumers that durability remains a priority.

Durability Without Compromise?

While Bizon didn’t provide specifics, she emphasized that the Galaxy S25 Edge will deliver both an “absolutely stunning” design and a durable build. She hinted at upcoming innovations, stating:

“I can’t say too much, but what I will say is that [the Edge] is about beautiful form factor. And there are two points I want to make. One is that it’s absolutely stunning. And if you think about the technology that’s going into that size of space, it’s pretty impressive. The second thing I’ll say concerns durability. With anything slim, durability [has to come as part of the package]. Those are the two features [of the Edge] that are exciting [for us]. Well, I know durability isn’t exciting – but it’s really important. So watch this space, because there are some exciting things to come regarding this phone.”

A Ceramic Back for Enhanced Toughness?

Industry leaks suggest that the Galaxy S25 Edge may feature a ceramic back, a material known for its superior toughness compared to traditional glass. This, combined with a metallic frame, could help the device withstand durability tests—such as those conducted by Zack Nelson of JerryRigEverything.

Samsung has been particularly secretive about the device, despite briefly showcasing it during the Unpacked event in January and again at MWC in March. Some speculate that the ceramic material may offer a distinct tactile feel compared to glass, and Samsung may want to keep this detail under wraps until the official launch.

With just weeks to go before the unveiling, expectations are high for Samsung’s thinnest flagship yet. If the rumors hold, the S25 Edge could strike the perfect balance between cutting-edge design and long-lasting durability.
