In a significant shift, Qualcomm has revealed its latest mobile powerhouse, the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. Breaking away from its previous naming conventions, the new chipset is not called the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, but instead, adopts the “Elite” moniker. This change aligns the Snapdragon 8 Elite with Qualcomm’s X Elite PC chipsets, creating a more unified branding across the company’s product lines.
According to reports from Gizchina, Qualcomm is aiming to redefine smartphone performance standards with this latest release, promising impressive improvements over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. More importantly, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is expected to challenge Apple’s A18 Pro chip, which powers the iPhone 16 Pro models, potentially heating up the competition in the premium mobile market.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Core Configuration
At its core, the Snapdragon 8 Elite features Qualcomm’s Oryon CPU cores, built to deliver exceptional processing capabilities. The configuration includes two performance cores running at a blazing 4.32 GHz, paired with six efficiency cores clocked at 3.53 GHz. This “big-little” design ensures a balance between powerful performance and efficient task handling, offering the best of both worlds for high-end mobile experiences. The SoC also packs 24MB of L2 cache, evenly divided between Prime and Performance cores.
Adreno 830 GPU: Next-Level Graphics
The Snapdragon 8 Elite also brings a new level of graphical performance, thanks to its Adreno 830 GPU, which provides a 40% performance boost and 35% faster ray tracing acceleration compared to its predecessor. With the GPU’s three slices, each operating at 1.1 GHz, users can expect seamless support for cutting-edge game engines such as Unreal Engine, Nanite, and Chaos Engine.
Improved Efficiency and Battery Life

As per Gizchina, we can expect the first wave of devices powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite to include models such as the OnePlus 13, Xiaomi 15, Honor Magic 7 Pro, and Realme GT 7 Pro. These smartphones are expected to launch shortly after Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit event.
