Sony is celebrating PlayStation 30th Anniversary with a nostalgic throwback to its iconic first console. The company has announced a limited edition PSOne-style PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro, along with other exclusive accessories, as part of its highly anticipated 30th Anniversary Collection. This unique collection gives fans a chance to own a piece of PlayStation history with a modern twist.
A Blast from the Past: Limited Edition PS5 Pro
The crown jewel of the collection is the limited edition PS5 Pro bundle, of which only 12,300 units will be available worldwide. The console comes decked out in the original PlayStation’s gray color scheme, complete with the classic retro design elements that longtime fans will recognize. The bundle includes:
- PS5 Pro console
- DualSense Edge controller with a case
- Vertical stand
- Charging station
- Original PlayStation-style cable connector
Sony has taken attention to detail seriously, including four cable ties inspired by PlayStation’s famous sacred symbols (the triangle, circle, cross, and square), a retro-themed sticker, poster, and even a paperclip — a nostalgic nod to old-school console packaging.
Slim Digital Edition & DualSense Controllers
Alongside the PS5 Pro, Sony is also offering a PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition, which comes with a matching disc drive cover. Although the disc drive must be purchased separately, it’s a perfect addition for those who prefer physical media. Like the PS5 Pro, this slim version includes retro-themed touches such as the original PlayStation controller-style cable connector, vertical stand, and matching DualSense controller.
For those who prefer not to splurge on the console bundles, Sony has also made the limited edition DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers available separately, along with the PlayStation Portal.
Preorders and Release Date
Preorders for the PS5 Pro and other items in the 30th Anniversary Collection will open on September 26 through PlayStation Direct for those with a PlayStation Network account. Additionally, participating retailers will offer preorders for the DualSense controller and PS5 Digital Edition starting October 10. The collection is set to officially launch on November 21.
