Musk has promised not to fire Twitter staff, yet he still does

Elon Musk is still cutting off Twitter employees, as scores of people were laid off last week across sales and engineering departments, including one of Musk’s direct reporting executives who was managing engineering for Twitter’s ads business.

According to The Verge, it indicates that the new Twitter CEO has executed at least three rounds of layoffs.

This is taking place despite his pledge to avoid from dismissing more workers following his savage layoff plan in November of last year, which affected two-thirds of the 7,500 employees of the microblogging site.

Musk claimed that Twitter is now actively looking for positions in engineering and sales during a meeting with staff. He also requested recommendations for possible applicants from the staff.

However, Musk is sacking employees every now and then.

Meanwhile, Musk early this month said twitter “current top priority” is to fix the recommendation algorithm.

“We will prioritise by number of likes times ease of implementation,” he said in a twitter.
