The highly anticipated Ethereum-based mech shooter MetalCore is set to enter open beta on the Epic Games Store on September 12, kicking off its first in-game season of content titled MetalPunk Rhapsody. Built on the Immutable zkEVM layer-2 scaling network, the game is also upgrading to Unreal Engine 5, promising enhanced performance and visual upgrades.
MetalCore has spent the past six months in various closed beta phases, but developer Studio369 is now opening the game to all players. The open beta marks a significant milestone, as players can experience new seasonal content, including player-vs-environment (PvE) raids where up to 10 faction members join forces to fight alien species for resources.
The MetalPunk Rhapsody season will spotlight the MetalPunk faction through themed content, skins, and storylines. With seasonal rewards and improved mission systems, the game aims to provide fresh content for both new and veteran players. Vehicles and mechs will also gain new rarity and strength variables, adding more depth to the gameplay.
The open beta launch follows the introduction of MetalCore’s native token MCG, which debuted in June during the closed beta. Unlike before, where players needed a key or Founders Pack to participate, the open beta will be free to download starting September 12, welcoming all players to jump in and experience the action.
