Meta Launches Broadcast Channels on Instagram

Meta has launched new Instagram broadcast channels, a one-to-many messaging solution that will allow creators to communicate directly with their followers at scale.

The tech Company CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the news via his own “Meta Channel” on the social networking site.

“Creators can also use voice notes to share their latest updates and behind-the-scenes moments, and even create polls to crowdsource fan feedback,” the company said on Thursday in a blog post.

Only creators, however, may send messages through the broadcast channels, while followers can comment to material and vote in polls.

Other features, such as the opportunity to bring another creative into the channel to discuss prospective collaborations, crowdsource questions for a “ask me anything,” and much more, will be introduced to these channels in the coming months, according to the firm.

“Once a creator gets access to broadcast channels and sends the first message from their Instagram inbox, their followers will receive a one-time notification to join the channel,” the company noted.

Furthermore, followers have the option to quit or mute these channels at any moment, as well as regulate their alerts from creators.

Creators may also use the “join channel” sticker in Stories to urge their followers to join.

“We’re currently testing broadcast channels with a handful of creators in the US and plan to expand in the coming months,” Meta said.

“We’ll be testing broadcast channels in Messenger and on Facebook in the coming months,” it further explain.
