Honor is preparing to launch the Magic 8 series in October. Teasers indicate the Magic 8 Pro will feature a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, similar to the Vivo X300 Pro and Oppo Find X9 Pro. Unlike those, which use the Dimensity 9500, the Magic 8 Pro will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
According to leaks, the Magic 8 Pro will combine 3D ToF face recognition with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, making it the only Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 device with both features.
Camera setup is expected to include a 50-megapixel 1/1.3-inch main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, wide aperture, and an 85mm focal length.
The device is rumored to house a battery starting at 7,000mAh. A 90W fast charger was spotted for the model number BKQ-AN00 / AN80 in China’s 3C certification database.
The Magic 8 Pro is tipped to feature a 6.7-inch flat OLED display. The standard Magic 8 will use a 6.58-inch flat OLED panel.
The series will also include a Magic 8 Mini and Magic 8 Ultra. The Mini will feature a 6.3-inch display with Dimensity 9500. The Ultra is expected to carry the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with a 50-megapixel 1/0.98-inch OV LOFIC main sensor, an ultra-wide lens, and a 200-megapixel Samsung HP9 periscope lens supporting 4.3x to 7x optical zoom.
The Magic 8 Mini and Ultra are expected to debut in China in the first half of 2025.
