Google has just released Android 16 Beta 3, marking the Platform Stability milestone. This means the core system behaviors and APIs are now finalized, and only one more beta update remains—scheduled for April—to squash any lingering bugs before the full launch.
The final release of Android 16 is expected by the end of June for Google’s supported Pixel devices. After that, a minor update will follow between October and December, marking a shift in Google’s Android release cycle.
This beta introduces Auracast broadcast audio support for LE Audio-compatible hearing aids, making audio streaming more accessible. Additionally, Google has replaced the high-contrast text feature with outline text, which improves legibility for users with low vision by drawing a more prominent contrast around text.
Another notable addition is early support for Local Network Protection. While still in development, this feature will eventually allow users to control which apps can access devices on their local network. Right now, it’s only available as an opt-in option for developers.
Google is also ramping up efforts to ensure Android 16 reaches as many devices as possible, working closely with its hardware partners to expand compatibility. With the final launch just months away, Android users can look forward to a more refined and accessible experience.
