Apple Returns Wishlist Access to iTunes App in iOS 17.3 Update

Apple has restored wishlist functionality to the iOS iTunes Store app in the upcoming iOS 17.3 update, after removing the feature in iOS 17.2 last year.

When Apple migrated movie/TV purchases to the TV app in late 2022, it eliminated iTunes wishlists without warning. This left iOS users with no way to access or manage their lists of content to watch later.

The newly reintroduced Wishlist feature adds “Go to Your Wishlist” buttons in the iTunes Store’s Movie and TV sections. Tapping these buttons allows users to view everything previously added to their wishlist.

The change first appeared in the iOS 17.3 beta and was spotted by developer Federico. It mirrors the wishlist restoration Apple already rolled out in the tvOS 17.2 update for Apple TV.

However, the native TV app Apple wants consumers to use going forward still lacks wishlist capabilities. For now, Up Next is the only option for tracking content.

So iOS users may want to record the contents of their iTunes wishlists, in case Apple removes the functionality again when transitioning fully to the TV app.

The return of the iTunes wishlist will be welcomed by users who relied on it for keeping track of movies, shows, and recommendations to watch later on their iPhones and iPads.

The public iOS 17.3 release is expected within the next week, bringing this and other tweaks to most Apple mobile devices.
