Apple is reportedly working on introducing touchscreens to Macs, with the first touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro coming in 2025.

The engineers of the tech giant are reportedly “actively engaged in the project,” as per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, indicating that the company is “seriously considering” producing touchscreen Macs, MacRumors reports.

The first touchscreen MacBook Pro is expected to include a typical laptop design with a trackpad and a keyboard.

However, the display is likely to accommodate touch input, similar to that of an iPhone or iPad.

It will very certainly use macOS, given Apple is not actively attempting to integrate iPadOS and macOS.

If Apple follows forward with these plans, it will signal a significant conceptual shift for the company, which has always dismissed the idea of a touchscreen Mac, per the report.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that Apple will release a new MacBook with an OLED display before the end of next year.

According to Kuo, Apple was intending to sell an OLED-screen laptop because “OLEDs have the advantage of being thinner and lighter and offering more diverse form factor design options, like folding.”
